Government And Its Hypocrisy, A Case Study Of Moro
By Comr. Jimoh Abdulquadir Iyanda.
Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State is one with the problem of identity, there is numbers of justification saying Moro is part of Kwara North Senatorial District and whilst some are saying is part of Kwara Central Senatorial District. However, over the years now in Kwara State we have Moro to be part of Kwara North Senatorial District with their own elected Senator and Rep. respectively. We have five Local Government that make up the Kwara North which includes: Barutean, Edu, Kaiama, Moro and Patigi. In view of this, Kwara North is made up of two different Federal Constituency which are Barutean and Kaiama Federal Constituency and Edu, Moro and Patigi Federal Constituency. Although, Moro is minority ethnic group in Kwara North.
I always imagine how possible it is, to count Moro as part of Kwara Central or Ilorin Emirate to be per say.
Nevertheless, Moro Local Government is very unlucky from the initial as a result of bad leaders and many Government in the past has exploit that weakness from their part to the Government advantage or merit.
We have representatives in both Red and Green chamber of the National Assembly, but their contribution to the progress of Moro and Kwara North as a whole is very small compare to their Campagn promises.
Furthermore, it is not an hidden ideology again in Kwara State that, the other sisters Local Government in Kwara North have been always fumed to shift power to Moro due to the Local Government problem of identity.
The only track record we can access is that, Moro only shared some cultural values with Ilorin people as compare to Barutean Local Government and it neighbouring country. Arguably, their sisters Local Government have been making use of this opportunity to go against them during and after election to be part of Ilorin Emirate denied them of opportunity of all juicy positions in the state and as well as, in the affairs of our Federation. Among the juicy positions includes Rep., Senator, Governor, Minister, Head of Agencies and Parastatals of Government and et cetera.
Moreover, "Government Hypocrisy" can be seen from the part of the Traditional rulers in Moro, to mention but few: Baale of Sa'du, Oba of Jebba and Ohoro of Shao land have been denied of their constitutional right against all court order in favour of good people of Moro and their Royal fathers. This Local Government is one among the Local Government blessed with vast land and natural resources but there have been total deny upgrading their Obas and traditional rulers to the "First Class Obas" and some other positions, likewise other notable benefits in the state.
Many communities in Moro today are faced with series of challenges and total deny of dividends of democracy ranging from Bad roads, Poor Water Access, Lack of Electricity supply, and other social amenities. Ward like Ejidongari, Megida, and Malete were faced with numbers of these problem. It is a well known fact that, Megida-Arobadi road links many communities within Ipaye District down to Babaloke Area and many parts of Oyo State together with Banni and Kaiama respectively which will facilitate easy access of movable goods and agricultural produce to the metropol, if attention is eventually been given to these roads for proper tiling for the benefit of good people of this region.
Nevertheless, appreciation to the government that be, who has help the situation by bulldozed the road for partially easy movement of the road users.
More so, the pathetic state of Shao-Malete road cannot be overlooked over the years and negligence from the part of the Government has dashed the hope of many road users and people from this district, coupled with lack of sense of belonging as a result of abandonment.
Optimistic that, good people of Moro will soon rise and wake up from their slumber for their rights and as well support themselves to achieve sustainable development to the Local Government by eschew all forms of greediness and selfish interest for the benefits of both citizens and the inhabitants.
