Kwara Erudite Youths Sensitized Youths on Peaceful Coexistence in Kwara State

 

The program organized by Kwara  Erudite Youths (KEY) which was grace by the Deputy Governor of Kwara State ably represented by Hon. Femi Yusuf, founder of the KEY, Alh. Kayode Adams and co-founder Hon. Eng. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu the Commissioner Designate, Kwara State, and Hon. Abdullateef Alakawa Gidado, SA Political to the Governor of Kwara State.

The program commenced at 11:56am in Kwara Hotel, Ilorin. Opening prayer was said by Alfa Hadi Asinleke.

 The Deputy Governor of Kwara State ably represented by Hon. Femi Yusuf whist giving his speech at the event said, Kwara State is known as the State of Harmony, we must do all our possible best in maintaining the peaceful coexistence that we have been known for since inception. He also emphasis on the Youths responsibility to peaceful coexistence as the Governor is always alive to his responsibilities and Youths inclusiveness in governance which he has been projecting since he ascend to power in 2019.

He task all religious leaders to come together to achieve common goal in pursuit of peace and friendly environment in Kwara State, Kwara State is among the first created State in Nigeria and we are far behind, we must support the Governor in moving the State forward instead of retarding him.

He encourages Youths to maintain peace, and use media to drive State forward, social media shouldn't be an agent of negativity, social media have been created to impact us positively instead of using it negatively.

Pastor Ayedun said Ethnicity and Religion are the two critical issues that is blood causing problems within our immediate and larger society.

The religious and ethnicity differences is the problem associated to the crisis in our society, and the fact will always remain the same, people practice Muslims and Christians because many of us are born by Muslim or Christian parents, because we are born into that religious background. In his speech, Pastor Ayedun said he grows up in Ilorin around Surulere and nothing change in his attitudes towards Muslims, he and his parents have been maintaining peaceful coexistence all through because at that time, there's no difference between both Muslims and Christians in what we preaches.

Everyone should stop blaming that someone has created this problems, instead we should start taking responsibility as a way to restore peace back to our various communities in the state said Pastor Ayedun. More so, intolerance has been the basis and genesis of our challenges, we should be able to accommodate our fellows being in order to maintain peaceful coexistence, we need to adjust and tolerate one another.

While quoting from Bible, Pastor Ayedun said, Abrew 12:14 says: Strive for peace among everybody, and holiness among brothers. No matter how wealthy Kwara State is, we cannot enjoy this resources unless we maintain peace among ourselves. Pastor Ayedun reminds us that, Cultism and Boko-Haram initiated by someone, that we should be wary of what we initiate into our society because of the future of our children.

Dr. Mrs. Baaqi while delivering her speech, she talk briefly on her education background from Ansarul Muslim College, Ilorin, that the school is among the grant-aided school, and peaceful coexistence have been always maintained by the authorities.

She maintained that, Qur'an has come only to preaches peace, unity and peaceful coexistence. She also emphasized that, Allah has created us with different colors and languages, but tolerance has dimensions, we should endeavor to know what we can change and all those we cannot change as per either Christians and Muslims.

While she was addressing Youths said, Pastor Ayedun speech goes concurrence with what she's quoting from holy Qur'an, both holy Books preaches peace, unity and tolerance. God has warn all being that, "we should be wary of when calamity will fall, that will not be on evil doer alone", it has much to do with tolerance and responsibilities to maintain peaceful coexistence and unity as we are product of Adam and Eve. "We should be patience, even if it is difficult to do" said Dr. Mrs. Baaqi.

Hon. Abdullateef Alakawa Gidado, SA Political congratulates everyone for being part of the program that, His Excellency, Mall. AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman has assured and secured for everyone in the state, a better future for all Kwarans irrespective of your ideology and beliefs, social status, background, and political affiliation. Being a Christian or Muslim or any background itself is a thing beyond control of human, it's God's wish for everyone of us to meet ourselves in that background either Muslims or Christians.

In his final remarks, he said the challenges His Excellency, Mall. AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman is facing is that, he's trying to bring young people to the system for a better society, his transitional agenda of building a better future from today by bringing a new crop of young men to the system.

Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu appreciates all Youths from the nooks and crannies of Kwara State that grace the occasion. And while addressing the house on the idea of the program that, he sees it as a welcome initiative when introduced to him by the KYE4AA Excos, that at times, people that are not in Government do better than people in Government.

He said to everyone that grace the occasion, our mandates now should be unique in promoting peaceful coexistence, and as well spread the gospel of invaluable speech of our speakers, and use all lessons learnt during their presentations to preaches peace and peaceful coexistence in our various communities in the state.

All of us must be responsible, Government cannot do it all for us, we should try and spread the goodwill message to everyone in our various communities as a way to correct our maladjusted said Engr. Rotimi Iliasu.

Alh. Kayode Adam (Kula), gives thanks to everyone present including the speakers, he also appreciate Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu for his support and understanding. He reinstate his commitment to do more in the spirit of progress and peaceful coexistence. He said no one should allow anybody to cook nonsense for them, that will inevitably causes crisis in Kwara State.
